Track Name: Ten Feet Tall
i wanna tell you to cheer up
'cause you are ten feet tall
and she is very small
i want you to know

i wanna help you to stand up
instead of sitting on your bed
get outside of your head
i want you to go

and listen to me when i say
that everything will be okay

i wanna tell you that make-up
can't paper over cracks
but it might help you relax
until you are healed

and when there's no-one beside you
physically, i mean
you'll never be as lonely
as you might feel

so listen to me when i say
that everything will be okay
Track Name: Those Tremendous Mountains
took a walk, in the wind, down by the harbour
took a mouthful of sand in when we laughed
rode a bike, or a horse, I don't quite remember
but we laughed

took a trip, to the city, one friendly Autumn
took a mouthful of wine in when we breathed
holding hands, on the bridge, over the river
catching the leaves

i'm sorry that you flew so far away

felt your breath, on my neck, your hands in my pockets
felt your skin next to mine whenever we slept
and i've tried to forget all my misjudgements
but you wept

and we climbed, once again, those tremendous mountains
and we forded the rivers we crossed
while we hiked, over hills and through darkened forests
we got lost

i'm sorry that you flew so far away

and I found, an old list, you'd written for christmas
when you wandered the streets calling my name
and I hope that you got all that you asked for
Track Name: Whale Watching For Beginners
you're not the river but i think you're flowing deeper
as the storm clouds glide overhead
you're not the ocean but i think you've set in motion
all the abstract things you once said

and i'm wishing you would lie for a change

you're not the planet earth, nor do you have its worth
you're getting ahead of the game
you're not the sun and sky there's no point in asking why
you're barely a dark cobbled lane

and i'm wishing you would lie for a change
Track Name: The Animal Park
you wrote it in a letter
you didn't know what it meant
i think you saw it in a novel
one that you never really read

now it's hard to bear
but the sunlight keeps you there
laying down the law in your animal park

never one to miss adventures
no point in wasting the day
don't wanna see the sun go down
so you follow it on its way

now it's hard to bear
but the sunlight keeps you there
laying down the law in your animal park
Track Name: The High Class Hooker & The Millionaire Whiskey Heir
when she was in her teens
she dreamed of being a motion picture queen
like betty grable, maybe marilyn monroe

she'd spend her evenings in virginia
looking up at all the stars using Father's telescope
that he built before he died

and retiring to the living room and bidding dad goodnight
that little box tucked in the corner
showed her more stars than the sky

but when she moved to california
she didn't have a clue
that there were others too
all with one dream
a dream that won't come true

he was the son of someone's son
whose every whim would come undone
by all the things to which he tried not to succumb

living the high life in the south, standing spread by word of mouth
exquisite tastes in every vice
he never thought before he bought

and retiring to his living room while drawing all his blinds
he took a sip from daddy's bottle
before doing another line

but when he moved to California
he didn't have a clue
that there were others too
all with one dream, a dream that won't come true

she charged a thousand bucks a night
she had to pay for all those transatlantic flights
to please the powerful and rich

he found her number in a book
she told him 'touch but never look'
he wasn't used to playing quite by all the rules

and retiring to the hotel room with whiskey in their veins
she didn't know that this is where she soon
would meet her grisly end

and when they moved to california
they didn't have a clue
that there were others too
all with one dream
a dream that won't come true
Track Name: Erie Canal
i left at a young age and I watched you cry
i went in search of a prosperous life

but years down the line your letters found me
i soon came to wonder what could have been

i heard they were carving a route through the land
and seeing the advantage, i lent my hand

'cause i'm dying to reach you by the lakeside
so i'll follow the erie canal

bound by the mountains, bordered by gold
too much to die for, walking the road

and I'm dying to reach you by the lakeside
so i'll follow the erie canal

the love in your letters keeps me on track
the great lakes are waiting and I'll soon be back

'cause I'm dying to reach you by the lakeside
so I'll follow the erie canal
Track Name: Where The River Meets The Sea
was in your nature to be as free as an open stream
running slowly to the sea
and taking time

wasn't a stretch to see you basking in the sun
large of heart and full of fun
and taking time

and you'll be happier than you have ever been
where the river meets the sea

easy to imagine you didn't play it by the rules
you were covering for fools
and wasting time

waiting for a moment, just to see your face
i might not believe in fate
but I believe in you

and you'll be happier than you have ever been
where the river meets the sea

and you'll be happier than you have ever been
where the river meets the sea

where the river meets the sea
Track Name: Denouement
calling up all my old friends
trying so hard to make amends
people come and people go
but favourite songs you'll always know

i'll spin one now for you to hear
take a chair and lend your ear
the words being sung won't mean too much
but listen close and feel the rush

so grab my hand, and tell your heart, that this is who we are
and we'll forget who we once were

we're leaving all our pasts behind
trying to keep up with the times
you'll never change what's gone before
so walk away and close the door

the pictures that I cherish most
are photographs taken of ghosts
but letters going back fifteen years
reduce a man like me to tears

so grab my hand, and tell your heart, that this is who we are
we can't forget who we once were

calling up all my old friends
see them through a different lens
people change or stay the same
but don't forget their lives remain

the stars are streaking past outside
we're almost at the speed of light
uncharted worlds lie up ahead
you'll recognise them from your head.

so grab my hand, and tell your heart, that this is who we are
we won't forget who we once were
Track Name: Echoes From The Heliopause
i used to hear your words from far away
held you in esteem in every way
wormed your way with ease in to my heart
but all my feelings i could not impart

for years I've heard your signal speaking strong
but someday soon that signal will be gone
and when it goes we'll never know your fate
bid you farewell as you float off into space

i used to think those boundaries we could cross
but as we were, two children sad and lost
the rolling of the tides threw us ashore
and we were rescued by two different oars

and gravity assisted you away
now you occupy a different plane
we used to march together for one cause
now you're echoes from the heliopause

i sometimes wonder what became of you
and hope that you'll reflect upon me too
occasionally i'll open up those doors
and hear echoes from the heliopause

occasionally i'll open up those doors
and hear echoes from the heliopause
